Executive Director

We are looking for an exceptional executive director to join this successful community-based literary festival. The executive director will work collaboratively with the festival director (CEO) to strategically and energetically lead the team at Wimbledon BookFest in its next phase. 

Established in 2006, Wimbledon BookFest is one of the most respected literary festivals in the UK and plays a unique role in supporting of authors and writers in the cultural landscape and in the community 

Every year we welcome over 20,000 people to our public festival and events held throughout the year, across a variety of venues in Wimbledon and the London Borough of Merton. We have built up a strong education programme for primary and secondary schoolsannuallythe Festival enables over 10,000 school children, from 100+ London schools, to take part in literacy focused projects run by Wimbledon BookFest. 

We are looking for an executive director (finance & operations) to successfully lead the strategic development and day-to-day running of the festival as it enters its next stage of development. This is a future facing role with a focus on developing the strategic direction of the festival under the leadership of the festival director/CEO. 

The executive director will be responsible for driving the financial and operational vision for the organisation that aligns with our mission and values. They will work closely with the festival director to ensure that the organisation is financially resilient, maintaining our relationships with funders and developing new income generation opportunities and innovative new partnerships nationally. 

The executive director (ED) will bring new ideas and initiatives that enhance the festival’s existing programme of activity, supporting the company in navigating the changing external cultural, economic, social and political landscapes.

Our executive director will be experienced in the publishing or cultural sector and confident in the understanding of this landscape. 

This is a unique opportunity in a future facing role for an ambitious and visionary individual, with proven leadership experience, to help build the festival’s next stage of development
