Radical: A Life Between Words & Language

Prize-winning filmmaker and writer Xiaolu Guo joins us to discuss her original and provocative memoir.

Expect a deep dive into what it’s like to exist as an outsider, separated from family and encountering a new culture, nostalgia for Eastern landscapes and a desperate longing to connect. Xiaolu will also explore the power of narrative, memory, navigating the past and how she has used these forces in her work.

‘When it comes to spinning light and shadow on the complexities of living, loving and language, Xiaolu Guo is one of the most valuable writers in the world.’ – Deborah Levy

Xiaolu will be in conversation with Rowan Hisayo Buchanan. Rowan is the author of Harmless Like YouStarling Days and The Sleep Watcher. Rowan is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She has won The Authors’ Club First Novel Award and a Betty Trask Award and has been shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award.
