Tim Marshall

How Geography Explains Our World

Tim Marshall is one of the world’s most successful authors on foreign affairs. He’s the writer who put the ‘geo’ into geopolitics with his multi-million selling books as well as being an authoritative voice in international reporting.

Ten years on from publication of Prisoners of Geography, Tim returns to BookFest with compelling insights into how geography shapes the course of history and international relations, covering Russia’s war in Ukraine, conflicts in the Middle East and The United States and China’s battle for global supremacy.

Tim Marshall will be in conversation with Kamal Ahmed, author of The Life and Times of A Very British Man and former BBC News Editorial Director. He co-founded The News Movement, a start-up dedicated to tackling misinformation, and has also held senior roles at The Telegraph Group, The Observer and The Guardian.

‘Marshall is not afraid to ask tough questions and provide sharp answers.’
