Sue Roe & Sophie Haydock

The Women Behind Matisse & Picasso

Offering a fresh perspective on the art world this conversation highlights the often-overlooked contributions of women and brings their stories to the forefront.

Shining a light on the lives of women who were historically viewed through the lens of Matisse and Picasso, these new narratives highlight the roles of these unconventional, independent and talented women, who were outstanding in their own time.

Sue and Sophie will be in conversation with Sofia Akel, an award-winning cultural historian, creative consultant, writer, host, and lecturer specialising in Black British history. She is also the founder of the non-profit Free Books Campaign, which provides books to those who cannot afford or easily access them.

‘Sophie Haydock delivers another sizzling story of the art world, where sidelined women take centre stage. It’s an immersive tale of muses, betrayal, sex and bad behaviour’.
