Sudha Bhuchar: Performance

Evening Conversations

Acclaimed local author, writer and star of Amazon Prime’s EXPATS and Mary Poppins Returns, Sudha Bhuchar, brings her solo show Evening Conversations, to Wimbledon BookFest. Inspired by Sudha’s banter with her millennial/Gen Z, dual heritage (Hindu/Indian and Muslim/Pakistani) sons. Sudha invites her boys to ‘crack open a cold one’ and share their views on life.

“You’re the one with the identity crisis mum, not us!” they declare.

Will her fiercely British, mono-lingual sons see their background as a place of strength or an unwelcome inheritance? Shots are fired in the quick-fire exchanges between mother and sons, forcing Sudha to take stock.

Evening Conversations is humorous and truthful storytelling that crosses ages and cultures.

‘Bhuchar radiates knowledge, warmth and real likability.’ – Guardian

‘Full of truth and beauty… really brave’ – Riz Ahmed

‘Wonderfully ebullient, witty and times, wickedly funny and poignantly political.’ – Carole Woddis
