Literary phenomenon and British cult legend, Dr John Cooper Clarke, appearing at Wimbledon BookFest 2025, is one of our foremost satirists and the original ‘People’s Poet’.

From sharing the stage with the Sex Pistols, The Clash and New Order to creating some of the most iconic poetry of the modern era including ‘the world’s favourite British poem’ “I Wanna Be Yours”, John Cooper Clarke’s captivating lyrics and delivery has enthralled the world for over five decades.

In conversation with award-winning broadcaster and music journalist Miranda Sawyer, the trailblazing wordsmith will be discussing his uproarious new collection of poems as they address the inspirations and successes behind them. Don’t miss this evening of conversation and performance, featuring the Bard of Salford’s sardonic wit, satirical verse, and hilarious thoughts on modern life.

‘Long may his slender frame and spiky top produce words and deeds that keep us on our toes and alive to the wonders of the world.’
Sir Paul McCartney
