Elaine Feeney, Seán Hewitt & Wendy Erskine

Irish Writers Panel
We’re delighted to play host to three of the brightest authors on the contemporary Irish literary scene. Discover the depth and diversity of Ireland’s new generation of writers, tackling themes of resilience, love, and families.

Seán Hewitt’s novel is about desire, identity, and the transformative power of first love, Elaine Feeney tells a story of trauma and resilience, rich with history and drama and Wendy Erskine presents a daring, polyphonic presentation of modern-day Northern Ireland. The trio will be in conversation with Brian Dillon, acclaimed critic and essayist known for his sharp insights into contemporary literature and culture.

‘Irish fiction is flourishing. The writers of the new wave are original and bold.’
The Guardian

Wendy Erskine is a distinctive voice in the new wave of Northern Irish fiction, setting her stories in and around her native Belfast, in neighbourhoods peopled by characters whose seemingly mundane lives take unexpected turns.

Elaine Feeney is an acclaimed novelist and poet from the west of Ireland.  How to Build a Boat was also shortlisted for Irish Novel of the Year, longlisted for the Booker Prize, and was a New Yorker Best Book of the Year.

Seán Hewitt  is the author of two poetry collections, Tongues of Fire and Rapture’s Road, and a memoir, All Down Darkness Wide. Hewitt has received the Laurel Prize and the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature and been shortlisted for the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award.
