Colm Tóibín

One of our finest contemporary writers joins us for a special event.

Three times shortlisted for the Booker Prize, Colm will be in discussion about Brooklyn, Merton’s Big Read for 2024 and its sequel, Long Island which was published earlier this year.

Both are exquisite, compassionate and exhilarating novels examining loss and alternate lives, asking whether it is ever possible to truly return to the past.

‘It is impossible to read Tóibín without being moved, touched and finally changed.’ – Independent on Sunday

Due to high demand there is a maximum of two tickets per household for this event.

This event is part of  The Big Read 2024 and is now SOLD OUT. You can join the waiting list by emailing: [email protected].

PLEASE NOTE: Priority for return tickets will be given to those signed up to the Merton Big Read. You can join the scheme by clicking here.
