Ben Okri

Waking the Warriors

Brilliantly conjured by the poet, novelist and activist Sir Ben Okri, his new novel is a modern fable drawn from old legends and symbols across many cultures, confronting how resistance survives when hope itself is under attack.

He will discuss the book’s inspirations, the storytelling tradition he writes within, and a career spanning four decades. He won the Booker Prize in 1991 for The Famished Road  and was knighted in 2023.

‘Okri’s writing is light-as-air elegance.’
New Statesman

Ben Okri will be in conversation with children’s author, radio producer and podcast host Joe Haddow.
