Aasmah Mir & Osman Yousefzada

Memoir: Living Between Two Cultures

Broadcaster Aasmah Mir and interdisciplinary artist Osman Yousefzada come together to discuss the joys and challenges of growing up between British and Pakistani cultures.

Offering insights into a diverse Britain, both memoirists examine what it means to be an outsider and how to find your identity whilst weaving in and out of two worlds.  They’ll discuss their struggles with the dual burdens of racism and community expectations and how to find yourself where you are.

Osman Yousefzada is an interdisciplinary artist and writer and has dressed clients including Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. Aasmah Mir currently co-hosts the Times Radio Breakfast Show.

‘The narratives that shape who we are and how we fit in are not givens but negotiations and always up for revision.’  – Reverend Richard Coles

Aasmah and Osman will be talking to journalist and broadcaster Kavita Puri, author of Partition Voices.
