Wimbledon BookFest at Polka Theatre’s Big Dreams Festival

BookFest is delighted to be partnered with Polka Theatre to produce Big Dreams, the theatre’s Early Years Festival on 28-29 September.

In addition to the Festival’s digital installations, exciting productions and free activities, BookFest will be bringing four beloved children’s authors to the stage for interactive talks and readings.

On 28 September, award-winning author and illustrator Benji Davies will be holding a storytelling and live draw-along session based upon his hugely popular Storm Whale series.

This will be followed by a 25 year anniversary celebration of the timeless classic No Matter What, a heartfelt story of the unconditional love each parent feels for their child, with the author Debi Gliori.

On 29 September, we are welcoming back World Book Day 2024 author Tọlá Okogwu.Tọlá will be giving an interactive reading and signing of Bekah and the Moon, a moving magical picture book about the love between a young girl and the moon.

Finally, an unmissable event with author of Giganotosaurus Jonny Duddle, who will be doing a draw-along and readthrough of his brand-new book, Doddle with Duddle: How to Draw Dinosaurs.

The Big Dreams Festival forms part of BookFest’s year round programme for children, which included our World Book Day events with Tọlá, Kevin and Katie Tsang and Frank Cottrell-Boyce, and our ten day festival which has welcomed the likes of Malorie Blackman, Jacqueline Wilson and Sir Lenny Henry.
