BookFest Academy
These articles are written by students of our BookFest academy, who attended events at this year’s Autumn Festival.
Wimbledon BookFest Academy is a skills development programme for young people aged 16-19 based in Merton or Wandsworth. These students had the opportunity to learn more about the creative industries, gain work experience at our Autumn Festival and practice their journalism skills by writing these reviews of events they attended and have their work published.
The Academy is a first step into the creative industries and will build confidence and transferable skills for work, as well as applying for university.
Young people who have worked at Wimbledon BookFest have gone on to work in the events industry, publishing, broadcasting & journalism, film-making and careers in the wider creative and media industries. Some students have come back to work with us during, and following university.
