Elif Shafak

What can literature hope to offer when the world feels broken? It is the question that has run through Elif Shafak’s work for two decades and the question at the heart of her astonishing new novel.

Spanning continents, it tells the story of Gustave Flaubert through the voices of the women who shaped him, from his childhood nanny to Madame Bovary herself. A luminous portrait of an iconic writer, a meditation on creativity in dark times, and a bridge between Western prose and the oral storytelling and rich poetic heritage of the Middle East.

‘Make place for Elif Shafak on your bookshelf. Make place for her in your heart too. You won’t regret it.’
Arundhati Roy

Elif will be taking to journalist & author Kavita Puri.
