Two writers who use myth and the uncanny as a scalpel on the family and the home talk about their latest fictions that look at the ghosts marriage leaves behind.
Booker Prize-shortlisted author, Avni Doshi returns with The First House, in which a wife’s collapsing marriage summons the old myths of headless women and vengeful goddesses. Indonesian novelist Intan Paramaditha joins her with a gothic feminist eye trained on family, folklore and violence hidden in plain sight.
