Young Writers' Competition 2022: The Tree
Calling All Young Writers!
This competition has now closed and the winners will be announced in June.
You can enter a story or a poem inspired by this year’s theme The Tree, but remember to be creative, imaginative and above all original. We are asking entrants to think about Trees and what they mean to them as the inspiration and starting point for their story or poem.
Here's Jean Menzies, children's author and Chair of Judges for this year's competition, to tell you more.
What does a tree say to you – perhaps it is an enchanted forest or a treehouse to hideaway in. Could it be your own family tree or the owner of a million secrets captured from those who have passed it by. Is it a place where birds and animals seek refuge, or does it make you think about the rainforest and climate change? It’s up to you! Let the theme of the tree take you to somewhere new.
