Louise Kennedy and Lucy Caldwell

Thursday 9 June, 7-8pm*

Robert Graves Tent

Two brilliant writers come together to discuss their novels set in Belfast, telling the stories of ordinary people in extraordinary times.

Trespasses by award winning author Louise Kennedy (pictured top) is as tender as it is unflinching. A masterfully executed and intimate portrait of those caught between the warring realms of the personal and political, rooted in a turbulent and brutally imagined moment in the Troubles – where it’s not just what you do that matters, but what you are.

These Days by Lucy Caldwell (pictured bottom) is a timeless and heart-breaking novel about living under duress, about family and about how we stay true to ourselves. Set against the backdrop of the Belfast Blitz comes the exquisite story of two sisters trying to survive life and love during four nights of horrific bombing.

These stories offer flashes of beauty, and even humour, amidst the harshest of truths and offer new perspectives on Belfast and who we become when under extreme pressure.
