We are delighted to welcome bestselling author Sebastian Faulks back to Wimbledon BookFest to talk about his new book Snow Country which marks a return to the territory of one of Sebastian’s best loved novels, Human Traces.
An author at the height of his career, Sebastian Faulks is widely hailed as one of the best writers of his generation. This new novel looks at yearning and desire, at memories true and false, and at how the most private moments of our lives are shaped by the invisible forces of history. Thematically complex, it is held together by a narrative that drives to an unforgettable ending. Sebastian will be discussing his new work and the questions it raises about war, humanity, memory and writing.
‘I have been wanting to write this novel for at least ten years. To return to the country of ‘Human Traces’ was exciting for me and then to find there was so much still there…The second half was written during the lockdown, in circumstances the radio assured us hourly were ‘unprecedented’. But they weren’t, were they?’ – Sebastian Faulks
