Top children's playwright and Wimbledon BookFest Patron, David Wood OBE, launches his new book at the Sunrise Festival, giving primary age children the opportunity to experience the joy of plays and acting. David will be in conversation with Vicky Ireland former Artistic Director of Polka Theatre, both of whom have dedicated their professional lives to arts for children.
The plays in this collection create worlds that trigger children's imaginations as well as entertain them, make them think as well as make them laugh, and open their minds to new ideas and the power of storytelling through theatre.
David provides all the information and materials you need to use the plays in class or on stage (age range, running time, cast list, numbers, sample lesson plans and more). The book is edited by Paul Bateson, an experienced primary-level drama teacher.
Plays included: The Gingerbread Man; The See-Saw Tree; The BFG; Save the Human; Mother Goose's Golden Christmas
'As the most successful children's playwriter of this century, David Wood is trying through entertainment to teach the younger generation to preserve the world they live in and opt for conservation rather than commercial gain … this play provides an invaluable guideline to the young about the importance of the environment.'
