Meet the head of the most musical family in Britain as Kadiatu Kannah-Mason talks about their new book 'House of Music', an inspirational account of determination, music and love.
Dr Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason is a former lecturer and the mother of seven very talented, driven and brilliantly musical young adults. Son Sheku was the first black musician to win BBC Young Musician of the Year and performed at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, whilst three of his siblings also made the Young Musician category finalist. Daughter Isata has also presented at the Proms on the piano and the family collectively played at the 2018 BAFTA Ceremony.
Although used to playing at some of the most renowned concert halls in the world, during lockdown the Kanneh-Mason’s entertained audiences with live performances from their home in Nottingham. Violinist Braimah will be joining his mother Kadiatu to give an exclusive performance as part of the event.
'It’s not just a book about music. It’s also a book about overcoming racial barriers. It’s a book about courage.'
– Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason
A copy of House of Music (£RRP: £18.99) is included in the ticket price. Unfortunately there will be no book signings this year.
