An event that will introdu ce you to some of the best novels translated into the English language

Join us for a special event on translated fiction with Daniel Hahn, a leading literary translator, and Katharina Bielenberg, an expert publisher of literature in translation. They will discuss the importance of world literature and the craft of capturing an original voice in a different language.

Daniel Hahn’s translations from French, Spanish and Portuguese, include fiction from Europe, Africa and the Americas, and non-fiction by writers ranging from Portuguese Nobel laureate José Saramago to Brazilian footballer Pelé. His work has won him the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, the International Dublin Literary Award and the Blue Peter Book Award. In 2017, he founded the TA First Translation Prize to celebrate debut literary translation.

Katharina Bielenberg is Associate Publisher at MacLehose Press, an imprint of Quercus Books. Their mission is ‘Read the World’ and aim to bring the very best world literature to English-reading audiences. Since 2008, MacLehose have published writers from almost every continent, including Harukai Murakami, Stieg Larsson and Anuradha Roy.
