‘Storytellers often see things before they have been experienced’ Ben Okri in The Freedom Artist
The Man Booker Prize winning author of The Famished Road discusses his two new books, The Freedom Artist and his forthcoming collection of short stories, A Prayer for the Living.
The Freedom Artist offers an impassioned plea for freedom and justice, set in a world uncomfortably like our own. Ben’s Okri’s forthcoming collection, A Prayer for the Living includes stories set in London, in Byzantium, in the ghetto, in the Andes and in a printer’s shop in Spain. Both books will make you wonder if what you see in the world is all there is...
Also a poet, Ben’s poem 'This is How the Poor Die', a response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy was widely viewed on television and on social media.
‘Ben Okri is that rare thing, a literary and social visionary, a writer for whom all three – literature, culture and vision – are profoundly interwoven’.
Books will be on sale and the event will be followed by a book signing.
