Mary Shelley’s life story is a well-known one – a love affair with Percy Bysshe Shelley, early widowhood and as the creator of our most famous monster Frankenstein. But who was the woman who lived this story? In this captivating dialogue with the past, Fiona Sampson uncovers a complex character, writing at a time when to be a female author was a costly anomaly.

Fiona Sampson is the Editor of Poem and Professor of Poetry at the University of Roehampton.

Anne Sebba is an award-winning British biographer, writer, lecturer and journalist.
