These two writers straddle East and West in their fiction writing, offering a unique insight into contemporary political issues. Elif Shafak is one of today’s most influential international writers, and the most widely read female writer in Turkey. Her sweeping new tale is set between Istanbul and Oxford University. Pakistani writer Kamila Shamsie explores contemporary issues such as Muslim identity, racism, extremism and the class system in her new book, Home Fire. Elif and Kamila will be interviewed by Sameer Ramin, Arts and Books Editor at Prospect magazine.
