BookFest 2024

Wimbledon BookFest’s main festival takes place 17-27 October in central Wimbledon venues – Wimbledon High School, Wimbledon Library and New Wimbledon Theatre.

Pop-up events also take place throughout the year, including our special Spring Events in March.

We are partnering in 2024 with both Kings’s Arts Festival (King’s College School, Wimbledon) and Polka Theatre.

NEWS: The former Prime Minister, Theresa May is confirmed to speak at King’s Arts Festival on Wed 25 June 2024 .
Tickets will be on sale in April. We expect high demand so Become a Friend for Priority booking.

Schools Events

World Book Day Author Events –  now booking
25 & 26 March 2024

Every year more than 15,000 children from schools across south London take part in projects focused on literacy. School events for World Book Day include Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Katie and Kevin Tsang and official World Book Day authors Tọlá Okogwu and Louie Stowell. Events take place at New Wimbledon Theatre. click here.

Merton Big Read

Last year we launched the Merton Big Read – a community-wide reading scheme – in conjunction with Merton Libraries. Our 2023 Big Read was The Last White Man, by the acclamied author Mohsin Hamid.

This year’s Festival Big Read will be announced on World Book Night – 23 April 2024.
