Welcome to the bigger, better…
Wimbledon Bookfest 2008!
We are currently finalising our programme for this year and constantly updating the website, so please keep checking back for the latest information.
The second year of the Wimbledon Bookfest promises to be even more exciting than the first -- launched so successfully last October.
Although it is still too early for the organizers to confirm the star names and dates, they reckon they’ve lined up something for just about everyone. Centrepiece will be a James Bond celebration dinner and film show. Lovers of gardens and dogs have celebrity events to look forward to and there’s something of real appeal to football fans. South Park will be a magnet for those who fancy farmers’ markets and wine tastings. The whole range of venues for Bookfest 2008 is quite amazing – and one of them will certainly be sold out for the ‘blockbuster’ finale featuring one of television’s real superstars.
It’s eight days of literary heaven for booklovers – and there’s another writing competition for schools. Put the dates in your diary now – Sat, Oct 4 to Sun, Oct 12.
Businesses please note that Sponsorship Opportunities at all levels are currently available. For news updates and more information about how you can become a Friend or Volunteer, contact us by email or or call the Festival Organisers on 0208 286 0955.
Wimbledon Bookfest 2007 Festival
Wimbledon Bookfest achieved its place on the literary festival calendar, following the success of its first festival last October. Largely run by volunteers the arts, publishing and voluntary sectors got together to hold a week long festival of book related events. Highlights included William Boyd at Books etc, AS Byatt talking about Possession at Wimbledon Film Club, John Humphreys at Polka Theatre, Victoria Hislop at Wimbledon High School and the Literary Pub Quiz with Andy Hamilton and Tony Hawks at the Dog and Fox.

Volunteers
The festival is largely run by the input of volunteers and the organisers are again seeking community support and partnerships. There are lots of ways of getting involved from running events to stewarding and leafleting.
