Virginia McKenna starred in some of the most popular and enduring movies of our time including Carve Her Name in Pride, A Town Like Alice and Born Free, in which she played opposite her husband, Bill Travers. It was to change their lives leading to the formation of the wildlife charity, The Born Free Foundation. Here, Virginia - using a lifetime of anecdotes, memories and poems talks about her personal ambition to change people’s attitudes to animals and the world.

In this award-winning biography Clare Mulley brings to life the unconventional founder of Save the Children, Eglantyne Jebb. Eglantyne dedicated her life to children’s welfare and human rights and permanently changed the way the world acts towards children. 2009 marks the 90th anniversary of Save the Children and the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child which evolved from Jebb’s pioneering work. Clare is winner of the Daily Mail Biographers’ Club Prize.
